Davido Adeleke is a popular Nigerian musician and a producer. Naiprom gathers that Davido was born into a very wealthy family. His father, Adedeji Adeleke is a billionaire businessman while his late mother, Mrs. Veronica Adeleke was a University Lecturer before she passed on.
Naiprom also found out that Davido’s late uncle, Isiaka Adeleke was the first civilian Governor of Osun State in 1992 when Davido was born and his other uncle, Demola Adeleke is the current Senator-Elect representing Osun-west senatorial district.
Davido’s HKN mates, B Red and Sina Rambo, are his cousins being children of his uncle, Senator Demola Adeleke. Davido was one of the lucky once in the music industry, said Naiprom.Davido was a member of a musical group while he was in the United States, called the KB International. It was while he was with this group that he honed his musical talents and eventually came into limelight.
In May 2011, Davido released his first single titled “Back When”. The music became an instant hit and was well received by music lovers all around Africa. He followed up with another hit single’ Dami Duro’ in October 2011.
Since then, it has been back to back hits from the very talented singer. Some of his other hit singles include ‘Aye’, ‘Skelewu’, ‘Overseas’ and ‘Gobe’. At the age of 20, Davido acquired an N140 Million mansion for himself in the Lekki Phase 1 area of Lagos.
Davido dropped his debut album, ‘Omo Baba Olowo’ (O.B.O: The Genesis) on July 2012. The album launch which held at the Expo Hall of the Eko Hotel and Suites attracted top celebs including Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, D’banj, Funke Akindele and many others.
Davido’s first manager was Asa Asika is the cousin of Naeto C and Storm 360 boss, Obi Asika. On October 23, 2013, Davido partnered with Guinness Nigeria for the “Guinness World of More” concert.
O.B.O which had production credits from Shizzi, Maleek Berry, Dokta Frabz amongst others won the Best RnB Album award at the 2013 edition of Headies.
Davido has also collaborated with a lot of Nigerian and Internationally renowned music acts including Trey Songz, Wale, Future, Meek Mill, Olamide, Don Jazzy, Timaya, Mafikizolo, Diamond Platinumz, Tiwa Savage, Lola Rae, Naeto C , Sarkodie, Mi Casa, Shank, Lynxxx, popular UK artiste, Dotstar, and many more.
HKN Music, (Record Label) jointly owned by Davido and Ade, his older brother. When asked to choose an ideal producer to work with, he responded: “…myself, because I know what I want exactly!”
Davido has had endorsement deals with big brands like MTN and Guinness in the past. He once signed an N30 Million deal to become a brand ambassador for MTN.
Davido has received dozens of awards and nominations in Nigeria and internationally. He has currently credited with about 26 awards and 48 awards nominations to his name.
David Adeleke is not only a great singer, he is also a father. In May 2015, the crooner had a daughter with his older ex-girlfriend, Sofie Momodu.
He took to his social media pages to announce the birth of his daughter on the 15th of May, 2015 and also revealed that his daughter gets the biggest room in his newly acquired vacation home in Atlanta.
Davido also welcomed his second child with American girlfriend in May 2017, last year. He named her Hailey Veronica Adeleke. Naiprom was among the first to post about it.
Davido has proven to the music industry that he has what it takes to succeed. He has also shared stages with people like T-Pain, Fabulous, Keith Sweat, Cabo Snoop, D’Banj, Naeto C and more.
Davido has seen it all, said Naiprom, and am sure he has gotten his fear share from the music business. Davido has open doors for so many upcoming stars and still counting.
In March 2016, Davido signed Mayorkun and Dremo to his self-owned record label (DMW). His also known for pampering his team members with expensive gifts like Rolex wrist watches which they all flaunted on snapchat that fateful day.
Davido is literally the baddest guy in the game as far as 2017 in Nigeria is reviewed musically. The ‘Fia’ crooner kept the music industry on lock and put the keys in his pocket. From If, to Fall, Fia and Like Dat, has perfected the slogan ‘every single was a hit back to back’.
His singles were all ‘sing along’ tunes with very punchy and minimal lyrics and he delivered some of the biggest songs this year. His songs did not just rock in Nigeria alone but crossed borders to the rest of Africa, Europe & America.
It’s hard to argue that Davido is biggest Nigerian artist of 2017. Naiprom said so!
